Matilda Burgess, who comes from Nailsea, has now been promoted to marketing manager at the popular venue where she will oversee all aspects of the business including hotel, weddings, conferences and events and the acclaimed Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill.

Matilda joined Cadbury House as wedding co-ordinator post pandemic in April 2021 and quickly proved her worth taking on a more senior role by August the same year.

Then in November 2022, to help cover for maternity leave, she oversaw the sales and marketing function, helping manage the six members of the sales team across hotel reservations, conference, open entertainment, weddings, and Christmas.

Her new position will now see Matilda take on additional responsibility including the strategic marketing planning for the whole business.

Commenting on her promotion Matilda said: “It’s been an amazing couple of years and I’m naturally delighted to have received this promotion.”

“Cadbury House is such a fast-paced, dynamic business and there are so many elements to what it can offer. That keeps me extremely busy and I’m very much looking forward to the year ahead.”

Matilda’s promotion coincides with the return of Claire Jones following maternity leave and who resumes her role as head of sales, a position that oversees all aspects of sales from events, rooms and conferences.

Meanwhile, Maddie Wood, who started work as an apprentice at the venue, is taking the lead on hotel corporate sales, focusing specifically on short lead business which has seen a steady rise since the pandemic.

Gareth Ireland, general manager added: “Matilda’s promotion is very well-deserved and I’d like to congratulate her on her achievement.

“She has proved to be a highly valued member of the team is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and highly professional and we all wish her well in the new role.”

“It’s also great to have Claire back following her maternity leave as she is a proven operator and someone who is very well known across the sector, while Maddie is a hugely valued member of the team and, having started her career as an apprentice, knows the business inside out.”

“Here at Cadbury House, the vast majority of staff all live locally and we always look to promote from within and provide our team the opportunity to advance their careers, so it’s great that all three now form part of the senior management team here at Cadbury House and bodes well for the future.”
